If I want to make a different size block – would I make the pinwheel squares 1/2″ smaller than the background squares?

In reply to Dorothy. It is a little bit tricky, since you want the pinwheel to stick out on the front. If you press all your seams in one direction, either clockwise or counter-clockwise, it will help spread the bulk out.
