In reply to Lorraine Rich. Typically, we cut the elastic 2-4" shorter than the waist measurement. The reason for the range is that it depends how much stretch your elastic has.

What’s the formula for cutting waist elastic? I’m making these for out of town grandkids and wonder the best way to measure and cut.

In reply to Rachal. If they are just a little bit bigger than 8, you can probably still use the biggest size and lengthen the crotch piece just a little bit. These pants have a very loose fit. If you have access to pants that fit them, you can use those for a size reference.

I am in love with this pattern! I do have a quick question… how easy would it be to adjust this for a couple ages over 8 (like 10 years old)?
I want to make these for all my nieces and nephews but some are a little older than 8. Also, might be a little taller, but I imagine leg length is easy to adjust. Just more concerned about the crotch/seat area.

In reply to Deb Rimmer. Hi Deb, not sure why only one size printed. The sizes are nestled within each other, with each size in a different color. There is no cuff on the Perfect PJ Pants, so I'm not sure what you mean.
