Daily Sowing, done in wool and needle-turn applique with embellishments, is the sixth block of our “Forever Bound” LDS Museum Quilt. Daily Sowing is a pastoral scene of a stalwart farmer plowing the wheat fields in the shadow of a snow-capped mountain range. The law of the harvest is the main symbolic representation in this block. The horse drawn plow honors our pioneer heritage of hard work. The seagulls hovering overhead to protect the crops remind us that the Lord answers prayers. The mountain peaks are symbolic of the prophecy that the Lord’s house shall be established in the tops of the mountains.
This quilt was featured as “His Works- My Blessings” in the 2012 LDS International Art Competition and the March 2013 issue of The Ensign. The block finishes to about 17″ and will be one of 9 applique blocks, 4 tree of life blocks, pieced setting triangles, and borders that make up the entire quilt. It can also be used as a pillow top, if desired. The full pattern is being released on a block-of-the-month basis, so you can create your own museum piece.
This completely original pattern is not sold elsewhere. Detailed instructions and pattern pieces required for creating your own Daily Sowing Quilt Block are included in this digital pattern download. A PDF will be available for you to download up to three times immediately upon purchase. This pattern is for personal use only.
