Little King Nursery

We welcomed our little king to the world almost two weeks ago. He came in weighing over ten pounds and has been healthy and happy ever since.  His three loving older sisters are more than eager to hold him and help take care of him.Little-King

Today we thought it might be fun to show you his little nursery, where the Little King Quilt now lives.  This is the view from the doorway:Little-King-Nursery

For this nursery, all of the furniture came from other parts of the house, mostly the toddler’s room.  She got a new dresser and toddler bed in the trade, so don’t feel too bad for her.  The green and white stripes were painted for our first nursery, and paired with pink.  It’s amazing how much a room can change by switching out a color or two.  The mobile animals don’t really go with the new color theme of green, blues, gray, and white, so maybe that will spark a project in the future?Quilt-and-Artwork

On the shelves, you can see a Cuddle & Flannel blanket that I made on the second shelf, and a changing pad cover out of flannels on the bottom shelf.  The changing pad cover is basically a pillowcase that fits the size of our changing pad.  I made two, so we can switch them out to wash when needed.Mountain-Range-Artwork

This set of three 16″ x 20″ canvases is the mountain range artwork I painted that inspired the quilting on the Little King Quilt.  I love doing artwork for a room makeover, especially when it turns out better than my vision.  I wasn’t exactly sure where I wanted these to go, but I found my way during the process and I am very happy with the end result.  Sometimes it’s best to just jump into a project and stop thinking about it!Chair-and-changing-tableI strung paper fans in the corner above the rocking chair.  They slowly twist as they hang and create a little bit of fun for the eye.  I made a quick pillow cover for the chair to bring in more of the navy/royal blue.  You may notice that we still have an empty spot on the wall above the changing table.  Traditionally, this is where I put artwork that plays on the baby’s name, and since we wait until our babies are born to name them, I always have to wait on this part.  Another future project!

Thanks for stopping by for a visit.  I hope you enjoyed this look into our little king’s nursery.  I had a lot of fun putting it together, and it’s now one of our favorite rooms in the house.
