Peppermint & Gingerbread Christmas Table Runner

Peppermint and Gingerbread Christmas Table RunnerNothing says, “Merry Christmas!” quite like a festive table runner, sporting gingerbread men and peppermint candies.  We started with a pattern by Kimberbell Designs and Alpine Wonderland fabric from Riley Blake to put together four of these beauties.  Using wool blend felt from Sunfelt, we added the gingerbread men and peppermint candy embellishments.  Applique doesn’t get any easier than this.  Wool felt is very forgiving.  We used spray adhesive to hold each piece in place while zig zag stitching by machine.

Quilting

This was the first project that we got to put on our brand new longarm quilter.  Something small like a table runner is a good size to start with, and if you are doing more than one, you can quilt them all on one continuous piece of backing fabric.Table Runner CloseupWe just love the cheery look of these on our dining room tables this time of year.  The bright colors and happy design are sure to put a smile on your face every time you walk by!  If you make one for every member of your family, you feel connected, even if you live far away.
