Sneak Peek: Little King Quilt

As some of you that we have the pleasure of knowing in real life may be aware, Audrey is expecting a new baby boy this summer.  Of course, with that comes all the preparatory sewing and quilting.  In the past couple of months, we have been sketching and designing a new baby quilt for the little guy, who one of his big sisters refers to as her “little king”.  Yesterday, we were able to try out our first real test block!  For our color palette, we picked royal and light blues, lime green, grays, and white.

Color-PaletteFabrics for this block are from a variety of designers and lines, including London Fog by Camelot Fabrics, Bella by Lotta Jansdotter, Emmy Grace by Bari J, Midwest Modern 2 by Amy Butler, and the new Mixologie line by Studio M.  We think they look great together, so why don’t you see for yourself?

We just love how that center star turned out!  To give it some movement, we used different prints of the same color.  We are thinking that the lime green print will be the only one we use throughout the quilt, but the other colors will have some variety.

And here’s a top view of the entire pieced block.  For the quilt, it will end up about 16″ x 16″.

We can’t wait to get all the blocks done and the whole quilt put together, which ought to be pretty soon, since we will need it for sure by June!  This is one of our more advanced quilt patterns, but since it’s baby size it should be pretty reasonable.  Let us know what you think of our latest block design in the comments below!
