Scrap Bin Quilted Pillow

Remember our Confetti Weave Quilt (still a personal favorite!)?  After trimming the half-square triangles, we saved all of the leftover small triangle pieces.  We thought we would make something really cool, since there were so many of them.

After sewing them together with the same gray background from the quilt (also trimmings) into half-square triangles, we arranged them into this radiating diamond/square pattern.  We only needed to make a few extra blocks from other scrap pieces.

For the back, we used this gray polka dot from Rifle Paper Co.’s Wonderland line and did a simple envelope closure.  We also used this for the background of one of our Star Farm Quilts.

Each of these tiny half-square triangles ended up a little over an inch.  It wasn’t quite exact, but the pillow finished to 20″ x 20″.

These pieces were kind of tiny to work with, but we loved the overall effect.  The fact that it matches the quilt, after these couple of years, makes it feel new again.
