Make This: Glass Jar Winter Scenes Tutorial

Nostalgic and wintery dry snow globes are so much fun and easy to make, perfect for an afternoon craft project with friends. Have everyone bring their Christmas village miniatures, ornaments, cake toppers, and greenery.  Gather an assortment of clear glass jars with lids, fake snow and glitter, glue gun, and craft glue.

If you’d like a little bit of snow stuck on the top of the jar, smear some craft glue inside the bottom of the jar (which will become the top of the snow globe).  p1040339Put a little bit of snow and glitter into the jar.  You may have to add or remove some snow once you see how it falls.  p1040340Turn the lid upside-down once all the glue is dry, and screw in place.  Flip it over and see how it looks.p1040342Add or remove snow to your desire, and make a whole bunch more for friends and neighbors.p1040344 p1040345 p1040346 p1040348 Small Not Header P1040347These would be fun and easy neighbor, teacher, or friend gifts.  You can also add some ribbon or washi tape to the jar lid (which we did later, and it looked really great.  Take our word for it.) if you want to spice things up.

  1. Hi Audrey and Diane, what a fantastic idea for a craft party! Snow globes make great Christmas decorations and hearken a sense of nostalgia. And I am all about fake snow this year! Don’t know why I’ve waited so long to bring fake snow into my Christmas decorating.
