Lemon Drop Dress

I was recently thrilled to participate in the #ilovelemondrops Instagram TradeAway with Anna Maria Horner. What an amazing opportunity this was for me to work with one of our all-time favorite designer’s new knit fabrics and one of her wonderful clothing patterns. Out of 22 variations of her Lemon Drop pattern, I was chosen to sew together variation #8, which was a girl’s short-sleeved dress.
Lemon Drop Dress #8I sewed the dress for my cute five-year-old daughter, who was so glad to have me making something just for her. The colors of the fabric are great for upcoming fall and winter, and I have been loving grays lately, so it was a perfect fit.  I hadn’t made any kids clothing since this year’s Easter dresses, so it was about time. Lemondrop Dress 2 sm The Lemon Drop dress was a breeze to put together. Of course, some experience with knits was helpful. I used my serger for most of the dress, except the twin needle hemming on the pockets, sleeves, and skirt, which I did on my regular machine.  The neckband was the trickiest part, and I ended up shortening it by two inches to get a better fit.  Lemondrop Dress smSewing this dress was a really fun experience- a huge thank you from us to Anna Maria! I love how easy it is to connect with other people, especially amazing artists and designers that we admire, on Instagram.  Connect with us there to see lots of behind-the-scenes shots of our creative lives.

With such a large size range and so many variations in the Lemon Drop pattern, there will be more Lemon Drop dresses and tunics in our future for sure!

  1. the dress looks very nice on your daughter and I think that maybe I should put it on my wish list for later on in the fall.
