Scrappy Buffalo Check Quilt

As promised, we’re showing off the other quilt we made for a Christmas gift.  Enter the Scrappy Buffalo Check Quilt!  For this quilt, we were able to use only fabrics found in the stash, besides the backing.  Can you tell we have a thing for blues?

We used the awesome and free Buffalo Check Quilt Pattern from Empty Bobbins as a jumping off point, but of course we had to change it up just a little bit.  That’s what you have to do sometimes when you’re sewing the stash, right?  In the end, we actually like it better looking so scrappy.

We did adjust the size a little bit, to make it not quite a twin size and more of a large throw.  It came together very quickly as well. The binding was an Art Gallery print that we have hoarded away from a long ago Sample Spree.

For the quilting, we did a free motion woodgrain, much like our Snowball Fight Quilt, but this time we didn’t follow the pantograph.  For the backing, we used a coordinating flannel sheet, just to avoid having to piece anything and for extra coziness.

We hope you love the Scrappy Buffalo Check Quilt as much as we do.  It’s seriously a contender for the “make again” list, which isn’t typically a long one for us.  It’s a great beginner project, or just for when you need a quick finish.

On another note, we have an amazing announcement to make.  We are OLFA Brand Ambassadors for 2019! This means that we get to share with you some of our very favorite quilting products.  We have used OLFA for years, and they never disappoint.

Stay tuned for lots of fun projects, and many more exciting things we have planned for this year!
