Spooktacular Halloween Quilting

We’ve been furiously sewing to finish up our Halloween projects before the 31st!  For these projects, we used up the rest of our Spooktacular fabric stash.  First off the sewing machine is this lap quilt from a pattern by Daisy Janie.halloween quilt 1

Instead of 8 fat quarters in rows, we did 11 to make it a little bit bigger.  We are also planning to add borders along the top and bottom, but the rest of the scaredy cat fabric isn’t here yet.halloween quilt 2

Make sure to cut all your strips along the 21″ side of the fat quarters, otherwise you won’t have enough length.halloween quilt 3

If you are using directional prints like us, you will have to cut squares and turn them right-side up instead of sewing strips together.halloween quilt 4

It goes pretty fast once you start sewing the pairs of squares together.halloween quilt 5

This was a fun little project that went pretty quickly.  It would be perfect for those fat quarter bundles with coordinating colors.  Boo-tiful!halloween quilt 6

Did you see our Halloween Crossroads quilt tutorial?  Remember all those half-square triangle pieces that got trimmed off?  Since we couldn’t bear to see them go to waste, we made a quick little table runner.halloween table runner 1

Check out our tutorial for a quick how-to on the half-square triangle.

We love the versatility of this simple block.  Ours were arranged in arrows this time.halloween table runner 3

Instead of piecing in strips, we did little arrow blocks.halloween table runner 5

And then the blocks into rows.  halloween table runner 4

Love this look!  The arrows look so neat running back and forth along the table.halloween table runner 7Although we finished all our piecing in time for the holiday, we’ve still got some actual quilting to do.  There are still a few days left, so we haven’t lost hope yet!
